# California SB 1459 (20132014) — Mortgage loan originators: educational requirements.
The California Finance Lenders Law and the California Residential Mortgage Lending Act define a mortgage loan originator as an individual who takes a residential mortgage loan application or offers or negotiates terms of a residential mortgage loan for compensation or gain.
