Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority: transactions and use tax.
Existing law authorizes the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to impose, in addition to any other tax that it is authorized to impose, a transactions and use tax at a rate of 0.5% for not more than 30 years for the funding of specified transportation-related purposes pursuant to an adopted expenditure plan, subject to voter approval. Existing law requires the MTA board to notify the members of the Legislature representing the County of Los Angeles when certain amendments are proposed to an adopted expenditure plan, including amendments that affect the schedule for the availability of funds for a capital project identified in the expenditure plan or that affect the schedule for the estimated or expected completion date of the project. This notice is required to be provided no later than 365 days prior to the adoption of an amendment to the expenditure plan.
