Bill	Civil service examinations: veterans' preference.	The California Constitution authorizes the Legislature to provide preferences for veterans in civil service positions. Existing civil service law further requires that veterans be allowed preference points for civil service employment, as specified. Existing law provides that disabled veterans who become eligible for certification from eligible lists by attaining the passing mark established for an entrance examination held on an open, nonpromotional basis are allowed 15 additional points. California SB 1563 (20112012) — Civil service examinations: veterans' preference.

The California Constitution authorizes the Legislature to provide preferences for veterans in civil service positions. Existing civil service law further requires that veterans be allowed preference points for civil service employment, as specified.
