Bill Juveniles: detention. Existing law makes a minor, under certain circumstances, subject to the jurisdiction of the juvenile court. If the minor has been abused or neglected, or if the minor has violated a law or ordinance, as specified, the juvenile court may adjudge the minor to be a dependent or a ward of the court, respectively. Existing law authorizes the court to order a person who has been adjudged a ward of the juvenile court to be detained in the detention home, or in the case of a ward who is 18 years of age or older, in a county jail or otherwise as the court deems fit until the execution of the order of commitment or of other disposition. In any case in which a minor is detained for more than 15 days pending the execution of the order of commitment or of any other disposition, existing law requires the court to periodically review the case to determine whether the delay is reasonable. us/states/ca California Legislature 20132014 AB 2607 California AB 2607 (20132014)
