Bill Solar energy systems: permit fees. Existing law, for purposes of governing property rights, defines a "solar energy system" as specified to include any solar collector or other solar energy device whose primary purpose is to provide for the collection, storage, and distribution of solar energy for space heating, space cooling, electric generation, or water heating. Existing law prescribes and limits permit fees that a city or county may charge for a residential and commercial solar energy system. California AB 1132 (20232024) — Solar energy systems: permit fees.

Existing law, for purposes of governing property rights, defines a "solar energy system" as specified to include any solar collector or other solar energy device whose primary purpose is to provide for the collection, storage, and distribution of solar energy for space heating, space cooling, electric generation, or water heating. Existing law prescribes and limits permit fees that a city or county may charge for a residential and commercial solar energy system. Existing law repeals these provisions on January 1, 2025.
