Bill COUNTIES-CHAIR & VICE-CHAIR Amends the Counties Code. In a division concerning counties under township organization, provides that the chairman and vice-chairman of the county board shall be elected by a majority of those elected to the board. Provides that, if the position of chairman becomes vacant, the vice-chairman shall serve as chairman until a new chairman is elected to fill the remainder of the departing chairman's 2-year term. Illinois SB 1595 (102nd) — COUNTIES-CHAIR & VICE-CHAIR

Amends the Counties Code. In a division concerning counties under township organization, provides that the chairman and vice-chairman of the county board shall be elected by a majority of those elected to the board. Provides that, if the position of chairman becomes vacant, the vice-chairman shall serve as chairman until a new chairman is elected to fill the remainder of the departing chairman's 2-year term. Effective January 1, 2022.
