Provides that the chairman of the county board of all counties under 3,000,000 population shall be elected as chairman without having been first elected to the county board (rather than counties with a population of 450,000 or less being able to elect a chairman from the members of the board or without having been a member of the board). Further provides that no person shall seek election to both the county board as a member and the county board chairman at the same election. Illinois HB 6418 (99th) — COUNTY BOARD CHAIRMAN ELECTION
Amends the Counties Code. Provides that the chairman of the county board of all counties under 3,000,000 population shall be elected as chairman without having been first elected to the county board (rather than counties with a population of 450,000 or less being able to elect a chairman from the members of the board or without having been a member of the board). Further provides that no person shall seek election to both the county board as a member and the county board chairman at the same election. Effective immediately.
