# California AB 1612 (20092010) — Human services.

(1) Existing law prohibits a state agency from disclosing any personal information in a manner that would link the information disclosed to the individual to whom it pertains, subject to prescribed exceptions. One of these exceptions authorizes a state agency to release personally identifiable data to a nonprofit entity conducting scientific research, provided the request for information is approved by the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects (CHS) for the California Health and Human Services Agency, or an institutional review board as specified.
