title: "Healing arts."
description: "(1) The Dental Practice Act provides for the licensure and regulation of dentists and registered dental assistants by the Dental Board of California, which is within the Department of Consumer Affairs, and requires the board to meet regularly once in San Francisco and once in Los Angeles each year after the commencement of dental schools for the purpose of examining applicants and at such other times as the board may designate. The act entitles the secretary of the board to traveling and other expenses and prohibits the secretary from receiving a salary. The act requires the board to examine all applicants for licensure to practice dentistry in the state and to issue licenses to those applicants that pass the examination of the board.
