# Illinois SB 2844 (97th) — CD CORR-CONTRACTS-HEALTH&FOOD

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that when the Department of Corrections lets bids for contracts for medical services to be provided to persons committed to Department facilities by a health maintenance organization, medical service corporation, or other health care provider or lets bids for contracts for food or commissary services to be provided to Department facilities, the bid may only be let to a health care provider that has obtained an irrevocable letter of credit or performance bond issued by a company whose bonds have an investment grade or higher rating (rather than rated AAA) by a bond rating organization.
