# 42 U.S.C. § 300ff16 - Technical assistance
## Text
The Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration shall, beginning on August 18, 1990, provide technical assistance, including assistance from other grantees, contractors or subcontractors under this subchapter to assist newly eligible metropolitan areas in the establishment of HIV health services planning councils and, to assist entities in complying with the requirements of this subpart in order to make such entities eligible to receive a grant under this subpart. The Administrator may make planning grants available to metropolitan areas, in an amount not to exceed $75,000 for any metropolitan area, projected to be eligible for funding under section 300ff11 of this title in the following fiscal year. Such grant amounts shall be deducted from the first year formula award to eligible areas accepting such grants. Not to exceed 1 percent of the amount appropriated for a fiscal year under section 300ff77 of this title for grants under this subpart may be used to carry out this section.

Amendments2009—Pub. L. 11187 repealed Pub. L. 109415, § 703, and revived the provisions of this section as in effect on Sept. 30, 2009. See 2006 Amendment note and Effective Date of 2009 Amendment; Revival of Section note below. 2006—Pub. L. 109415, § 703, which directed repeal of this section effective Oct. 1, 2009, was itself repealed by Pub. L. 11187, § 2(a)(1), effective Sept. 30, 2009. Pub. L. 109415, § 107(b), substituted “this subpart” for “this part” wherever appearing. 1996—Pub. L. 104146 substituted “Administration shall” for “Administration may”, inserted “, including assistance from other grantees, contractors or subcontractors under this subchapter to assist newly eligible metropolitan areas in the establishment of HIV health services planning councils and,” after “technical assistance”, and inserted at end “The Administrator may make planning grants available to metropolitan areas, in an amount not to exceed $75,000 for any metropolitan area, projected to be eligible for funding under section 300ff11 of this title in the following fiscal year.
